Our Oconomowoc High School Building Trades 3 Class celebrated the start of the school year with a ground breaking ceremony for the new house they're helping to build with Tim O'Brien Homes. For the last 11 years, Tim O'Brien Homes has partnered with OHS and Teacher Steve Olson, to give our students this home building experience.
These Junior and Senior level students have already completed the Building Trades 1 and 2 classes along with an application process to be accepted into this program. Their involvement began in June when they were able to participate in the design process, floor planning, and color selections for the house. After the ground breaking today, they started learning about the construction site and preparation that's done at the beginning of a home building project. Our students will continue to work at the Pabst Farms job site for the school year, learning alongside professional tradespeople.
Some of these students are already enrolled in a Youth Apprenticeship program in the construction trades, and others are using this experience to decide whether they'll enroll in an apprenticeship next year. Thanks to the support of Tim O'Brien Homes, our students can try different careers before graduation, to help them find the pathway that's right for them.
Thank you to Tim O'Brien Homes for continuing this incredible partnership. Our students are oconDRIVEN for success!
