You meet them almost every day – people living in the Oconomowoc area who proudly say they are “Raccoons.” They are often involved in community-wide efforts, members of one or more service clubs, or volunteers at multiple venues. Many who currently teach in the District discovered their love of learning while students in Oconomowoc schools. They have stayed or come back to the area because it’s a great place to live. With its family-friendly opportunities, bountiful natural beauty, and exceptional educational opportunities, Oconomowoc is just the place to live, no matter what phase of life. Some graduates of Oconomowoc High School have taken on national and international leadership roles with skills that were forged while here in the District. Several have received extraordinary recognition and are featured on the Wall of Fame at Oconomowoc High School. 1993 OHS graduate Major Jodi Miller Maroney was honored as the latest addition to the wall of students who “must have made a significant contribution to the welfare of mankind.” In 2003, Marine Reservist Maroney was the first pilot to fly the CH-53 Super Stallion, the military’s largest and most powerful helicopter, during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
